I have previously posted around Waterford. I am tracing backwards for my Sargents of Cappoquin. Many of these were born in KNOCKANORE (Kilcockan) and KNOCKANORE(Lismore and Mocollop). I am not sure where they originated prior to this.

I had a very old message from Seamus Fox "Sargint in Clonmel Cahir abd ardfinnan areas from 1715 onwards". I did not follow that up, but now I am looking to find this history. If you are out there Seamus

Sargent records in Knockanore:

(1) James Sargent(Sargeant) 1786 - 1864 married Catherine Forde 1820 1784-1869. 4 children found born in Knockanore:

William(1821), Cornelius(1823), Michael(1826),Ellen(1833). Both parents died in Cappoquin as did their sons. Ellen unknown.

(2) Patrick Sargent 1790 - unknown Married Mary Walsh  . 2 children found born in Knocanore : Hanorah 1823-unknown, James 1831 - unknown. Griffiths shows a Patrick in Shanakill (Aglish)

(3) John Sargent (SERGEANT) 1794 - 1867 married Bridget Conway 1801- 1869. Married Knockanore 30 Jan 1822. 6 children found born Knockanore. Parents death recorded Ballyneety, Tallow, Waterford

James(1828 - unknown), Margaret (1830 - unknown), Johann/John (1833 - unknown) , Bridget (1835 - unknown), Patrick(1837 - unknown), Ellen (1840 - unknown)

(4) Cornelius Sargent 1796 -1896. married  Johanna 1796 -1866. She died Ballymuddy , Tallow , Waterford. He died in the Lismore Workhouse 14 days after entering. Griffiths has him Ballymuddy. No records of children have been found or any other details.

I am looking for both the UNKNOWN details of this family , spouses and children (as above) and where this family originated . There apparently are not any Sargents(and their many varieties of spelling) in Knockanore now. They were a Catholic family in this period. I noted there are other SARGENT families who were not RC  and so far I have not seen a connection.

If anybody has any help that would be great. I have spent a lot of time on the Cappoquin era for them and would love to find the era before that.

Thank you from Erin
