I am looking for my father DavidO’Connell, born in Tipperary in 1940, June 28th. Also his father The Very Reverend Desmond Charles O’Connell. I don’t know my grandfather’s birthplace in Ireland. He did live in Tiperary and County Galway, Clifden as well as Cleggan. He attended Trinity College and received his PhD in Philosophy. He was an Episcopal Priest. He also was a priest at one time in Christ Church, Clifden. He married my grandmother, Phylis O’Connell and my father, David is one of their sons. I am also, very interested in getting information about my great grandfather, Robert Millar. He was born in September of 1883 and died in County Galway, Clifden. It can’t find his birth certificate, actually I would love all my Irish family birth certificates but am having difficulty because I don’t know where some of them were born. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Robert Millar I really am interested in. He had a Mill/Grocery Store, in Clifden that was started in 1890. However, his son Albert ran the bus depot that was once a Station House for the railroad after it stopped running. My Great-Uncle Albert bought the Station House Property around 1940-1950 and convinced my great-Grandfather to move his Mill (he sold wool sweaters and tweeds) which was apparently world famous. I would love any pictures of the Mill on Market Street. Albert Millar’s Son now own Millar’s Connemara and Tweed. It is run or owned by Ronald Millar and his French wife. It is only a shop because the Old Mill was taken down. Originally it employed many people in Clifden in 1890 and the early 1920’s. Any help would be invaluable.
Thank you,
Deidre L. O’Connell-Koehler

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I located some records which may be helpful. I found this 1881 baptismal records on the subscription site Roots Ireland but could not find a related civil birth record.
There are a number of links as follows
1901 census record which shows John Miller alone in Clifden. Robert may have been at school.
1907 civil marriage record for Robert Millar and Harriett Thomas
1911 census record for Robert and family
1912 civil birth record for Phyllis Millar
1936 civil marriage record Desmond O'Connell and Phyllis Millar
We can only obtain copies online of birth records up to 1919 (100 year rule) and marriages up to 1944 (75 year rule). see www.irisshgenealogy.ie
Let me know if you have any questions.

This looks to be Desmond Charles O’Connell in the 1911 census. He was born in Co. Sligo. In 1911 his father looks to have been lecturing in Celtic languages at Queen’s University, Belfast.
