Looking for any information on the Devany/Devaney family that once lived in Noughaval. My 5x Gr Grandfather came from Westmeath to Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada in 1820, he was born approximately 1793. There was also a Anne Devany in Halifax, also from Westmeath, daughter of Henry Devany and Mary Cambell of Noughaval Westmeath. It is not proven but I am assuming Robert and Anne are siblings. I have record of what could be 5 generations of Devaney's near Tang but cannot make the connections.

1) Henry Devany + Mary Cambell,  Noughaval Westmeath

I am guessing any further decendants moved on to Mullingar . Any help would be appreciated.

By the way, might be passing through Noghaval in May 2018.

Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I assume your ancestors were RC. The RC parish would be Drumraney but their records start in 1834. I also looked at the 1829 Tithe records for the civil parish of Noughaval but their were no Devany/Devaney records.

Please consider adding Robert's story to our XO Chronicles site  https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
