My Patrick CREW (variants: Carew, Crewe, Krew) is a mystery prior to him enlisting into the Army at Ballinasloe, Co Galway on 24 Nov 1823. His Regiment being 58th Foot. (no 337) Copies of his Army records are not clear, so am considering visiting Kew to view the originals as I will be over in Ireland and England in July this year. (From NZ)
His age at that time is stated as 17 and from the Parish of Louran, Co Tipperary. Approx birth year 1806.
Patrick was discharged Nov 1845 in Chatham.
He married Susan Fitzpatrick April 1843 in the Parish of Urney, Co Cavan. Both Roman Catholic. No parents listed.
The only places in Tipperary with similar names is a small place of Loran and a Parish Lorrha. As he enlisted at Ballinasloe - Lorrha is 24 miles from there and Loran 42 miles.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Tipperary records do not appear in the irish Censuses until 1851 but the Tithe Applotments have 104 Carews in Tipp in the 1820's; there is only 1 in Lorrha but no first name is given! Townland is Curraghy.
