Hello,
I'm trying to find a Townland or Parish in Co Galway where my second great grandparents, Patrick Courtney and Hanna Kearns came from.
The first record I have for them is the Census of England of 1871. That record states that they both were born in CO Galway. both are listed as age 50. In the 1881 Census of England, Patrick is listed as age 62, Hanna is listed as age 60.
Patrick and Hanna had four children: Patrick - b. 1848, Martin - b. 1854, James - b. abt 1856, and Thomas - b. 1862. All were born in Manchester, England.
The family religion is Catholic.
Hanna's last name is an estimate from her Death record which states, in cursif, that lists her father's name as: Patrick Kearns.
If anyone has any knowledge of this families' Ireland location it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Patrick Mone

Thank you Miriam. I will check out Griffith's. Yes, the Thomas you mention is one of the family we refer to. Pat Mone

Miriam,
I'm wondering if there may be marriage records for the Parishes of Tuam and Kilbergnet for the years 1845 -1848 range, with the idea that Patrick Courtney and Hanna Kearns may have married in Ireland before emigrating to England.
Thank you,
