The RC records for Balla parish start in 1837 so no baptismal records would exist for Patrick. (Civil registration of births started in 1864). 

 I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find the marriage record for Patrick and Mary. I did locate five baptismal records which I assume you have. The only one I did not locate was a record for Anne. ( The record for John does show Ballynagran.)

There are no 19th century census records available for Co. Mayo.

I use the Family Search site a lot, and I see that you've created records there for Pat and Mary, as well as their children, also indicating that Pat's parents were Daniel McEllin and Catherine Flannigan.  There are some court records attached to the record for Pat, indicating a 19th century land dispute in Killedan parish, which is the parish just northeast of Balla.  Killedan is where one of my grandfathers grew up, and I notice from my own records that a Mary Sheridan was a sponsor at the 1870 baptism of one of my distant Gallagher relatives there, so your Mary Sheridan (if it's the same person) may have been from Killedan.  If so, it's possible that she and Pat were married in Killedan (Kiltimagh), since weddings frequently took place in the bride's parish, even if the couple then went to live in the husband's parish.  The marriage records for Killedan go back to 1834, so you might be able to find a marriage record there for Pat and Mary.  The online parish records for Killedan are at this site:  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0135

Thank you so much to both of you for taking the time to reply to my post. Yes, I've created records all over the place Kevin..:) I don't think that the parents are correct now though. It's more likely that Daniel and Catherine Flanagan were his brother and sister in law. There was another Pat McEllin in Balla with similar profile to my great great grandfather, he however was married to an Honor Walsh who had a daughter called Barbara who married a Charles McDonnell and had a shop in Balla too. I believe that Pat's date of birth was 1819 whereas my Pat was born 1811. I also have a petty session record of him in court because he hadn't been paid for goods delivered to someone in Castlebar. The Gallagher name you mention is in my tree Kevin, James Gallagher 1861-1947 married a maria McEllin 1872-1951, daughter of Mary Benson. I'm also wondering how John his son 1848 married to Cahterine McDonnell ended up in Manulla being born in prison, maybe this was something to do with the land dispute because there was a very large area of land owned by the McEllins coming across prison and all down the Balla Road to Manulla.

Roger, with regard to your mention of the Birth Certificates; yes I have them all except the one you mention for an Anne which could mean that there wasn't an Anne or maybe she died as a baby. I cannot find him on any census but there are a few griffiths that could be him also in the tithe applotments, but cannot verify it's him. His daughter Bridget was married to Martin Brett and one of the sponsors was Daniel McEllin for their child Owen. Both he and his wife Mary Sheridan are very elusive ...:) I will just have to keep digging and hope something turns up in an unexpected place. Thanks again to both of you.

There's a gentleman in the town called Tommy Armstrong. They'd know him in the famous Railway Tavern. 
Hes a guy to speak with, one of the most likely to know. My own family are from Manulla and Balla but long king before my time. I notice you had a Brett, my great x3 grandmother was a Brett. I'd love to hear more from anyone with info on Forbes Brett Reilly or Higgins in the Balla Manulla area.

Also, you know prison / prizon is a place?

Thank you User 155267. I only just came across your reply to my post months ago. I got the Brett connection wrong. Pats daughter Bridget wasn't married to a Brett, however a cousin of hers from Drumaslooeen was. The Bridget from my line was married to a Walsh.
