Have discovered a possible family connection to Paddy Roche, who played football for the Galway team from 1919 to 1925 and I am wondering where he might have gone to. Have been unable to find marriage or death records for him. Perhaps someone in the Ballinasloe area can help?

Thank you Jane. I further discovered that Paddy Roche actually played for Galway up to 1929 but have been unable to find any records after that.

Hello Cautiouskate,
My name is Clare Horgan, I am a volunteer at Claregalway, Co. Galway.
Your best bet may be to search old newspapers. A very good website to search Galway newspapers is Irish Irish Newspaper Archives
https://www.irishnewsarchive.com.
It is a subscription but they do do a free trial. https://www.irishnewsarchive.com/free-trial. Just be aware if you put credit card details online to remove the day before the subscription is up or else you may get charge additional.
Hope this helps.

Hi DebC, I have only today seen your post on IrelandXo as I had kind of given up checking in. Just wondering if you have found any further information. I see you mention that maybe you also have a family connection. The connection I have is through my husband's family. It seems that Paddy Roche's Uncle, Matthew Roche, married my husband's Grand Aunt, Margaret Smyth. I have been unable to find records for a number of members of Paddy Roche's family. I do know at least one of them went to the U.S.A. Just wondering what your connection might be. Regards
