Is it possible that Clanmarie is Claremorris which is 11 miles northwest of Cloonfane? If she was from Claremorris, the baptismal records for Claremorris start in 1835 which is too late to locate Catherine's baptismal record.

Could the townland perhaps be Cloonamanagh?

There were four different septs (tribes) in Ireland with the surname O'Neill  (in Irish, Ó Néill), but the main one was located in Ulster, especially in what are now Counties Antrim and Tyrone.  Some of the Ulster O’Neill’s migrated to eastern County Mayo at the time of the Plantation of Ulster (17th Century).  There was also an Ulster family called MacNeill (in Irish, Mac Néill), who were descended from Scottish immigrants who settled in Antrim and Derry in the 14th Century.  A branch of that family also made its way to Mayo, but they do not go by the name of O’Neill.  Some of the Ulster O’Neill’s became Protestants, and were/are a prominent family there, but the Mayo O’Neil’s remained Catholic.

There is an O’Neill heritage project headed by Sean O'Neill (to whom I am distantly related), who is from the O’Neill branch in Mayo, and whose email address is sean@oneill.ie.  His family comes from near Swineford in East Mayo, but his research covers a much wider area, so he might be able to help you locate your ancestors.  Although your ancestors seem to have come from a bit further south, the parish records for Swineford (Kilconduff) go back further than in most parts of East Mayo, so if you want to try looking there, they are available at this link:

Like Roger, I was unable to find any place called Clanimarie in Mayo (or elsewhere in Ireland), and I agree that Claremorris does sound like a good possibilty, given its proximity to Cloonfane (it is also not all that far south of Swineford).  Cloonamanagh is much further away in West Mayo, so that seems less likely.

If the couple settled in Cloonfane, that may be the townland where Michael Kelly's family lived (although they may have been married in the bride's home parish, perhaps back in Claremorris/Kilcolman).  Cloonfane is in Galway, but very close to the border with Mayo, about 7-8 miles southeast of Claremorris.  You can see more about the townland here:
