O’Ryan Jeremiah, Timothy & Ellen
I am researching my O’Ryan family Timothy O’Ryan was my great, great, grandfather family. His brother Jeremiah O’Ryan arrived in Australia in 1853 & married Alice Dwyer the same year in Sydney Australia. His brother & sister Timothy & Ellen arrived to Australia aboard the Ship The Rodney in 1854. Jeremiah settled in Bendigo/Castlemaine Victoria, Timothy & Ellen settled in Malmsbury Victoria. Appears both parents Simon & Johanna O’Ryan had died by 1854. I cannot find any record of them but know that Simon lived at Rossmore Bridge Tipperary, family members were born: John 1826, Jeremiah 1826, Timothy 1829, Ellen 1839, William 1832; Thomas 1836, Thomam 1846. Any information would be most helpful. Many thanks in advance. Desma

Hi Desma . . .
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out . . . and let's see if we can be of ANY help . .
Trying to sort out the RYAN;s of Tipperary birth . . has got to be a searchers nightmare . . BUT . . .
I . . personally . . have been struggling with a Rossmore RYAN family for years . . . with limited success . . .
What attracted my attention to your query . . was (1) RYAN . . and then the christian names TIMOTHY and JEREMIAH . . .
These match on MY tree . . Timothy (1904-1979) . . and . . Jeremiah (1907 - ) . . . and this family originated in the Rossmore district.
This Timothy . . worked and lived . . most of his life in and around Dublin . . his older Brother Patrick emigrated to N.Y. New Jersey . . .
Jeremiah . . emigrated to Argentina in 1929 . . . and all contact is lost . . .
Their FATHER was MIchael RYAN (1869 -1946) . . Mother . . Mary Agnes (Mollie) CORCORAN (1872 - 1956)
Further back . . my tree has Father to the above . . Michael Ryan b. 1840 - - Mother . . Honora (Ryan)
_________________________________________________________________________
Another Jeremiah . . . pops up on Ancestry . . .with a Mother named Katherine Farrell
_________________________________________________________________________________
I did a search for Your - - Timothy . . on Roots (paid search site ) . . .guessing that he was born c.1830 +/- 5 yrs.
which turned up 40 possibles . . born in Tipperary . . around that time . . .
I enclose a Map of the area (see below) . . where Births of a Timothy were registered in "Upperchurch " and " Kilcommon " . . being the nearest to Rossmore . .
I'm guessing there was no Church in Rossmore (Bridge) . . .
________________________________________________________________
Next I searched for a WEDDING of a Timothy to Ellen . . circa 1853 +/- 5 . . one only shows up in Upperchurch in 1857 (below)
Serching for . . . Wedding . . . in 1845 +/- 10yrs . . . 60 Timothys show up in Tipperary
SO . . you can see . . . it's . . needle in a haystack stuff . . .
__________________________________________________________
Should you wish to view " my RyanTree " on Ancestry . . . come back to me . . .giving your regular email address . . . and I will send you an invite to view. .
_____________________________________________________________
SO Desma . . . for now . . . Cheers . . . Eamonn.

Hi,
What caught my eye was this...............................
RYAN Jeremiah 1864 20 Rossmore William / Margaret F dead , M at Rossmore None . Paid for by James Dwyer Ship = Montmorency
Is this a relative?Deaths were not listed as the Civil Records in Ireland were only introduce in 1864. You may be lucky to find anu in some Parish records.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jspIn the Tithe records there is a Simon Ryan in Donohill which is near Rossmore.

Hi again . . . from Eamonn.
I searched ROOTS . . for a SIMON Ryan . . to be born in Tipperary County. . . approx 1800 . . +/- 10 yrs . . . NO results
I searched for a DEATH of Simon or Johanna . . before 1854 . . NO . . .
I searched for a JOHN b.1826 ..+/-5yrs. . . 280 in total for those year . . 18 in 1826 . . 1 in Kilcommon to James & Mgt.Moloney
Jeremiah b.1826 . . . .. ....30 " " 1 "
Timothy b.1829 60 " " 7 " 1 in K'Common to Denis & Johanna
Ellen 220 " " 16 " 1 in U,Church to Patrick & Judith
SO . . . as I said in the beginning . . . . It's tough finding and seperating RYAN's in Tipperary . . .
Margot's find of a SIMON in the Donohill area . . . would appear to be your best lead . . .
Good Luck again . . . and Cheers ( well don Margot )

HI Desma, Eamon, and Margot.
I found Timothy and Ellen on shipping list. The address given for them was
Alleyne, which I feel is the townland of Alleen, in The civil parish of Donohill.
Donohill civil parish bordered Rossmore, took in most of Anacarty and Donohill Catholic parishes, plus some townlands
from Cappawhite, Tipperary and Donaskeigh.
The Gurtnacoolagh mentioned in the Tithes by Margot would be near.

Many thanks Christina I have their shipping records leaving & upon arrival into Australia but cannot find any birth records or details of their parents or any other brothers & sisters in Ireland. I don’t think they were Catholic. Once in Australia they dropped the O’ and went by Ryan. Regards Desma

Hi again Desma. Tipperary Family History Research, have all the Catholic records for The Diocese of Cashel and Emly
For a small fee they will access your ancestors records.
Their e-mail is research@tfhr.org
It appears Protestant records are coming on line in the next year.
Let me know how you get on.
Christina.
