Hi!
I'm super new to the ancestry locating thing. I want to find out where my grandparents are from. My dad's ancestors are supposedly from Donegal, and my mother's are definetely from County Mayo. I was wondering where's a good place to start. I want to really connect with people in Ireland who might have known my decendants. I never met my grandparents and my parents don't like to talk about them because it upsets them so I really would love to learn about their lives.
Thanks in advance!!

Hi Bridget:
Many thanks for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site. We have a number of links that will assist you with getting started with your family research. They are listed at this link: https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/news You can click on Category and select "Genealogy" and that will bring you to the free resources that are available for research.
In addition, we have a number of Mayo volunteers who may be able to assist you as well as Donegal volunteers. If you would like to share more information, please do so on this thread otherwise, you can email me at: jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com or create an Ancestor Profile and I will pass on your information to several of them.
Many thanks for your interest in Ireland Reaching Out.
Kind regards,
Jane
