Seeking any information on this name. Our original ancestor arrived on Inis Mor stayed six months. then went to Spiddel. Later, land was given to them and they moved to Ballinrobe area working in flax industry. Also have a history of political involvement with the French. We are hopeful there are people with pieces of information. Thank you.

Hi Debora, I had a look at McLysaghts book Irish Surnames, the name Milllet has variants Mellot and Mylotte and other spellings, it is a from the work Miles meaning soldier and arrived in Irleand in the 14th century to Ormond county, now Kilkenny area, but from the 17th century moved to mainly Mayo and east Galway where the name is MacMyLyod and refers you to his other book More Irish families which I do not possess.
You could look at the local studies section of the Mayo library and there is at least one active Mayo Genealogy Facebook page.
Good Luck
