I am a great-grandson of Francis Murphy (born July 1886) and Margaret Kennedy (born Oct 1886) from Drumbreanlis and Aghawillan in Carrigallen, respectively.
I have been able to find some information about their ancestors but have not be able to get more info on Margaret Kennedy's mother's family (Margaret Cosgrove) as to where they lived and any vital records pertaining to that branch.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Can find no sign of the marriage, according to 1911 census married 34 years and 6 children, no marriage either church or civil to suit. Assume they may have got married outside the country. I have lots of ancestors from that area and one got married in England and returned. There is a Leitrim site here but no Cosgrove. have surnames on it and it is on South Leitrim your area, surprised as lots of Cosgroves in Mohill area. https://www.yourleitrimancestors.ie/index.htm There is a Leitrim History and genealogy Facebook page, apply to join, also an Old Mohill page and a South Leitrim page.
I will have another look for the marriage but fairly certain not in Ireland as neither church of civil record on Irish Roots. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Civil records from 1864 here Do you know how to look up the 1901 and 1911 census online free.
Will look again later, probably tuesday or later date.
Good Luck

Thanks for looking for me! I do know how to look up census records. Pretty interesting to not have anything regarding the Cosgroves. It is possible they could have married elsewhere. I have every other side accounted for in Leitrim and Longford.

Hi there
Just in case someone else is looking I have been tracing my family history and have been in contact with one of the Murphy's. Margaret Cosgrove is my Great Grandmother. Margaret was born Margaret Maguire on 20th March, 1867 and she later married my Great Grandfather Charles Joseph Cosgrove on 7th November, 1887 at Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. It was the Cosgroves who were from Aughawillan, County Letrim. Charles father was Patrick Cosgrove b1816 who married Anne Cosgrove (nee Crossan) b1818. Patrick Cosgrove's father was John Cosgrove b1781 they all farmed the same farm in Aughawillan from what I can work out.
Charles brother Michael Cosgrove/McCusker (birth certificate says Cosgrove but family history says he seemed to have sometimes used McCusker) was the one who stayed on the farm in Aughawillan, County Leitrim. Michael married Mary Gormley and they had five boys Bernard b1886, Charles b1888, John b1890, James b1893 and Patrick b1894 none of whom appear to have married. Charles had two other brothers John b1847 and Bernard b1851 who never married and two sisters Anne Cosgrove who married Daniel Gormley and Margaret who married Patrick Kennedy. It was Marageret and Patrick Kennedy's daughter Margaret who married Francis Murphy.
Margaret's Maguires parents are William Maguire and Susan Maguire (nee Gilgun) and Margaret also had two brothers Patrick Ignatius Maguire b1860 and Thomas Maguire b1870 and a sister Teresa Maguire b1867, they were all from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh.
That's as far back as I have been able to trace so far. I hope this helps.

Hi, Cossie. I am both a Murphy AND a Kennedy, but my Murphy people are from Dublin, not Leitrim, so let's focus on Kennedy line. I have a great aunt Margaret (Maggie) Kennedy who at the time of the 1901 Census was 14 years old. Her parents were Cornelius and Mary Kennedy. Her brothers were James and Patrick. Other siblings, including my grandfather, had emigrated (US, UK?, elsewhere?). There are other Margaret's, I believe, in my Kennedy Leitrim line, including a daughter of a Patrick Kennedy though Patrick was born, I believe, in 1870. If you'd like to continue this exchange best to reach me at my private e-mail at petekennedy at mac dot com. Best.

To John, original post on this thread: My great aunt Margaret Kennedy was born in, I believe,1887-89 period, in Leitrim, Townland of Lisgruddy/Lisgroody. She was youngest of 12.
To Mary Klaus Kennedy -- Did you have any Cornelius Kennedys in your line? My grandather (b.1874), great grandfather (b.1838) and great grandfather (b. 1793) were all Cornelius (Con, Connor) -- all Leitrim tenant farmers. I have some family tree information, which may help. I believe there are McGoverns in it.
