Michael Dargan married Mary Nagle (Neagle) in Fethard in 1835. They are my Great great grandparents. I have hit a brick wall trying to find their parents and siblings.
My Great grand father Richard Joseph Dargan was their third child who came to Australia with his older brother Laurence Joseph Dargan and settled in New South Wales. Richard was baptised on 27/05/1842 in the records of Cashel and Emly. Register number Fethard/214.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Merilyn:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I looked on the subscription site FindMyPast.ie and found an 1818 Mary Nagle baptismal record in Fethard parish. If she married young then possibly this is her baptismal record. I did not find a corresponding Michael Dargan baptismal record in Fethard so possibly he was baptized in another parish.

Hi Merilyn
I have a little information on the Nagle - Dargan connection. I hope it makes sense. Getting the correct generation is always hard because of the similar names. Checkout Baptisms below.
I have always had difficulty being certain of the parents of my Great Grandfather, Patrick Nagle from Tenrush, Killusty, but lean towards William Nagle and Mary O'Gorman. They are also the parents of a Mary Nagle baptised 1814 in Drangan/Cloneen Parish. (Drangan, Cloneen and Killusty Parishes crossed over at different times).
Mary Nagle baptised Drangan/Cloneen Parish in 24/4/1814 sponsor Richard Nagle and Mary Cleary
Patrick Nagle baptised Drangan/Cloneen Parish in 11/1/1817 sponsor Edmund Houlihan and Cath Nevill
Parents: William Nagle and Mary O'GormanMy Grandfather Richard Neagle (Nagle) - son of Patrick Nagle and Ellen Morris, came out to Galong Castle to John Nagle Ryan in NSW in 1880. We have a studio photo of Richard Neagle with a handsome "cousin Dargan"'. Also a studio photo of a married couple with "Cousin Dargans"' written on the back.

I have noticed Laurence J Dargan from the '"Elms"Binnalong, also went to Galong at first? How does he fit in with your Laurence Dargan?

Thank you Roger? The Laurence Dargan you mention at Galong would be my Great Uncle. He was Richard Dargan's (my great grandfather) older brother. Laurence owned " The Elms" in Binalong where he also worked and farmed. John Nagle Ryan took both Richard and Laurence under "his wing" and assisted them to prosper in this area of New South Wales. I recall reading that Patrick (Nagle Neagle) visited Galong and I have heard he travelled to Queensland but this is only hear say . I am unsure if he was related but there is a strong connection with Ned Ryan's wife as she too was a Nagle. I will continue to investigate but would be interested in any photos you have as I have none! There is one photo in a book about Binalong and Galong but the persons are not named. Thank you so much for all the information you have passed on. It has helped me to remotivate my endeavours to continue the search. Merilyn Ferguson

Hi Merilyn
Sorry that I didn't put my name to the above post.
My Grandfather is the Richard Neagle who came to John Nagle Ryan at Galong. Richard Neagle was left money in Anastasia Nagle Ryan's Will and with this money, he bought a property in Central Qld (near Capella). He called this property "Gaylong". with a "y''. My Dad was also Richard (Patrick) Neagle.
My longshot is that perhaps the Mary Nagle who is the daughter of Patrick Nagle and Mary O'Gorman and baptised at Drangan parish could be your Mary Nagle that married Michael Dargan. That would make her the sister of my Patrick Nagle (my Great Grandfather) and this is where the "cousin"' comes in, especially as Dargans are sponsors of Nagle children.
I am always reluctant to start summising which is why I am still doing family tree 25 years on. Ha Ha., If you care to email me I will scan and send photo to you. sybil_f@hotmail.com
cheers
