I am looking for information on my second great-grandfather Michael Casey born Ireland 1828-1833.
I have his marriage record to Ellen/Helen Nolan in New Jersey in 1863 and have him with his family in Saugerties, Ulster, New York in 1870 and 1880, occupation Stone cutter.
I may have found him in a Almshouse record in Kings County, NY in 1883 which states Michael was born in Tuam, Mayo. Father's birthplace Killarney, Kerry; Mother's birthplace Tuam, Mayo; and Father's occupation Dish Maker. Immigrated to NY in 1862.
I don't know if he was in fact from Mayo but my Dad seemed to think so.
Based on other record guesses, Michael may have had a brother, John b. 1820 and James b. 1825-27, also Stone cutters/Quarrymen in Hurley, Saugerties and Catskills NY 1850-1860 timeframe. Any ideas on best place to search Ireland 1841 Tuam/Mayo records for families with a Michael, John and James Casey or other suggestions are most welcome.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Tuam is a major town in Co. Galway although not far from the Co. Mayo border. Also, many RC parishes in Mayo are part of the Archdiocese of Tuam which might explain the references to Tuam/Mayo. Unfortunately, many parishes in Mayo/Galway do not have records back to 1828-1833 Also, Michael Casey is a very common name and from your message you don't know the names of his parents which makes it very difficult to determine if a record exists.
Have you considered DNA testing? Maybe thru matches you will be able to get some leads on the origins of your family.

Hello Roger. Thank you for the welcome and your post. I've not had much luck with DNA matches on my paternal/Casey side. However, my eldest male cousin on the Casey side has just submitted his DNA so I am hopeful.
