Hi there

Trying to trace members of the Burns family who moved to Cambusnethan in Scotland from Fermanagh.  Michael Burns immigrated to Tasmania in 1841 with wife Rose and 3 children.  Born 1808, in Galloon, Fermanagh, father Peter, mother Hannah (nee Maguire).  I believe Michael is the brother of John Burns, born about 1801 who moved to Cambusnethan in Scotland.  Particularly interested to find records of Peter Burns who married Hannah Maguire and presumably remained in Fermanagh with wife Hannah.  Any help on any aspect of the Burns family history in Fermanagh (in particular gallon or maybe Derrylin) would be greatly appreciated

  • Thank you so much Mary.  Great to get additional information for Michael and his family.  Fairly sure now Michael is the brother of my 2 times great grandfather John Burns born in Fermanagh in 1801 who moved across to Cambusnethan in Scotland and his father before him (Peter Burns) who remained in Ireland.  I wonder if anyone out there has any information about a Peter Burns, likely to have been born in or around Galloon, Fermanagh, probably around 1780 or so
