I am looking for links to my great-grandparents John McGrath & Margaret McGrath (née Nugent) who lived in 71 Barracks street Cappoquin. Their daughter Margaret was born there on 25 May 1862 & I think there was another daughter Ellen born in 1863. My Grandmother Margaret (Maggie) came to Australia in 1881 married William Menzie Gibbs in 1885 & they had 9 children. They lived in Charleville, Queensland Australia. I know that Minnie Curran a relative (sister or niece) of my Grandmother went to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. My great-grandfather John McGrath was a lime burner & it was always said that “he rang the bell” but it was never explained whether it was in the town for some reason, at the church, or at the place where he worked. If anyone has any link or connection I would be so grateful. Marie Stewart. PS. I have a beautiful photograph of Margaret McGrath/Nugent which she sent to her daughter (my grandmother) in Australia. It must have been taken in a photographic studio in Waterford in the early 1900’s.

Dear Miriam. I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful details that you sent me of my dear old family. I will spend today going to all the links that you sent me & at last I will be able to put together my Grandmother ‘s family history. Everybody loved Maggie & she was well respected in her home town Charleville, Australia. She was fiercely proud of the land of her birth & passed that pride on to all our family. Thank you again for your assistance which has been amazing. Warmest regards. Marie
