Looking for suggestions to find additional information about my 2x's great grandfather family; John McBride of Ballybofey, County Donegal.  He was born about 1828 or so.  I believe his father was Charles McBride and his mother Anne Connelly.  John lived in Pennsylvania, USA and developed a large farm over 300 acres, lived near his brothers Charles, Patrick and Edward.  I believe there was a brother Francis but have not found information related to him just yet only that there was another brother, not sure if there were sisters.  The only reason why I state parents names as Charles McBride and Anne Connelly is that when Edward died the death certificate information showed these names.  Edward McBride was born May 1 1832 and was a skilled watchmaker having learned the craft in Belfast Ireland and Liverpool England according to his obituary.

Thank you in advance for your consideration to provide suggestions.

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a February 4 1844 baptismal record for a Bridget McBride with father Charles McBride and mother Ann Connolly. The RC parish is Killygordon which is just southeast from Stranorlar. The baptismal records for Killygordon start in 1840. Maybe Bridget was the youngest child. I did not locate a marriage record for her.

  • Eileen,

Thank you so very much for the information and sorry it took so long for me to acknowledge your efforts.  There was a Patrick McBride who did emigrate to the US and he lived close by his brother John who was my 2x's great grandfather.  There was no information passed down through the generations as to a sister Bridget but that would be so cool if she was since I do have a niece with that name.

For Patrick do you know what the month was for Patrick.  I can make out the date as 28th but do not know the month but you did give me the year as 1846.

Thank you so very much for your efforts.
