Hi , I am desperately searching for information on my GGGrandmother Mary O'Neill.
I have been looking for years now and I just can't find anything regarding herself and her family prior to coming to Australia.
I would so love to be able to find out exactly where they came from as I would love to come visit Ireland and the home of her birthplace.
Mary is the beginning of us in Australia!
Mary came as a famine orphan, settled in the Hunter Valley of NSW marrying James Connor and having many children, my GGrandfather Arthur Connor was her second youngest but not the son of James Connor ( another mystery I am yet to solve)🤔
This is all the information I have on Mary pre Australia

Do you know the names of any of Mary's siblings? There are baptisms for several of them on RootsIreland.
Do you know the names of her children?
Thanks.

Hello Patricia,
Thankyou for this information
I wonder if that is her ?
I don't know of any siblings as I've never been successful finding anything pre Australia, but I'm sure she would of had some. Which parish are these records in ?
Mary's children's names are , Mary, Elizabeth,Ann, Joseph, James, Thomas, Edmund, Arthur and Frederick,I think that's all just off the top of my head.
Thankyou
Melissa

You seem to have duplicate threads posted here, with differing responses. I've sent you some info in the other thread, which you may wish to check out.

I found two baptisms for possible brothers of Mary O'Neill. They are listed at rootsireland.ie.
Both have parents Mary and John. Both, like Mary, were baptized in the RC parish of Roscommon in Co. Roscommon. Mary's record has no address. The two following have addresses of Ballinaboy townland and "Cullenboy" townland, which may be Killeenboy.
Baptism O'Neil John 1835 Co. Roscommon Ballinaboy
Baptism O'Neil Agustine 1837 Co. Roscommon Cullenboy

Thankyou
Looks like I'll need to do some more research.
Do you know where you can get the names of people that went into workhouses ? Maybe her whole family ended up in a workhouse,it says on the ships record that there was no work house in Roscommin, but there was 🤷
