Mrs. Mary Kelly

On Sunday evening at 10 o'clock at her residence on Third Street occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Kelly, after an illness extending over many years. The sad end was not wholly unexpected and her four sons were at her bedside when death came.

Mary Flynn was born in Galway County, Ireland, in November, 1827, and emigrated to America with her parents in l843, settling in New York state. She afterward went to Providence, Rhode Island where she was married to Patrick Kelly in 1852.  Eight children were born to bless this union, all of whom, with the exception of one, are still living. In 1857 they moved to Minnesota and from there in 1892 moved to Portland, Oregon, where her husband died. The same year with her five children she came to eastern Washington and has resided here almost continually since.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and located eight Mary Flynn baptismal records from 1824-1830 in Co. Galway. In addition, there are some parishes that do not have records back that far. One of the eight records was in 1827 and the baptismal date was November (see below).. You really need to find the names of her parents from her death record or possibly from the records for her brother Michael. By the way Castlegar parish is near Galway city.

I also checked for Patrick Kelly records in Waterford 1820-1826 and there were 24 baptismal records (3 in 1823). Again parens names would be helpful.

Let me know if you have any questions.
