It is 61km from Newport to Cahir so it might be a longshot that these are yours - depends on the names you have in the book.

Unfortunately the Irish Censuses of 1821 & 31 don't have Tipperary records; the Tithe Applotments have 19 Murnanes, 16 Marnanes & no Murnans in Tipp 1826-34

Thank you!  I initially had those same parents for John Murnan as a maybe so if he was born in Tipperary as we think he was this helps get us closer to confirming.  The other family members may help in tracking the right line down.  Another mystery to solve.

The parish the Murnanes resided in is the current Catholic parish of Bansha and Kilmoyler. The Parish boundary is less than 2 miles form the Square in Cahir. The townland of Cappauniac would be 3 to 4 miles from the parish boundary, ie. very close to Cahir.The current Parish is made up from three old Civil Parishes including Killardry and Clonbullogue. The name of Killardry is a corruption of Cill Ard Ri (the Church of the High King ), as the Kings of Munster resided across the near river crossing until Cashel was established as the Royal residence. In the graveyard where the photo you sent of the Murnane headstone was take,  the most prominent grave located there is for William Frances Butler who ic credited with establishing the 'Mounties Police force in Canada he was also a very able poet and I have attached two poems relating to Killaldriffe and I hope you will enjoy same.

The early Church records for the parish are not on line in a searchable form ,however,if you search the Parish Register for this Parish available at the National Library site you can view the Catholic Births and Marriage from 1822. The records are laid out with a nice structuref fotmat with the  Father's surname listed first,  then the Child's name and both parents names in full. In the case of marriage records the groom's  surname is listed first  and the fullname for Groom and Bride. You will find Murnane births in the early years and every few years and similarly for the Marriage records. I think they are possibly the most user friendly set in all of Ireland.
