Hello,

I am looking for information on my ancestors.

Margaret Russell was baptised in 1847 at Ballyboreen, Tipperary and emmigrated to Australia.

Her parents were James Russell, a tailor, and Catherine O'Brien (possibly baptised in 1824 at Tipperary?)

Thanks

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The parish was Ballyporeen/Templetenny in the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore. Margaret had an older sister Elizabeth baptized December 14 1845 and six younger siblings:although one apparently died young: Michael 1849 (died young?) Michael 1851 Ellen 1853 Mary Ann 1854 Catherine 1858 Thomas 1860 Information was on the subscription site Roots Ireland.

The parents married January 28 1845 in Ballyporeen. When married James was living in Lyrefune townland in Templetenny civil parish in Tipperary.

  • Thanks  Margot, that is terrific and I can now work on birth/baptism as it gives his age.

I don't know about David but I will take a look.

Looks like I will be busy on the weekend!!

    Thanks again,

    Steve
