The baptismal records for Enniskeane RC parish start in September 1813  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0109   The records are available on the free site irishgenealogy.ie (use the church record TAB). I did some searches and there were a number of Ellen and Mary Mahony baptismal records in the parish from 1813-1820. I will look at the records and see if I can find common parents for an Ellen and a Mary Mahony.

I located 6 Ellen Mahony and 8 Mary Mahony baptismal records in Enniskeane from 1813-1819 and unfortunately there were no parental matches. Maybe the baptismal record for one of the two was not recorded? Any other clues? Later childfren?

There are no younger children that I am aware of….. there is speculation that the fathers name is Daniel and mother Mary based on how Jerramiah, Ellen , and Mary names their children

One of the six Ellen Mahony baptismal records was an Ellen Mahony baptized March 30 1817 father Daniel mother Mary Ryan.

One of the eight Mary Mahony baptismal records was a Mary Mahony baptized in April 1816 (no specific day listed) father Daniel mother Mary Sullivan.

That’s great information Roger….. I do believe Ellen was born in 1815 based on all the family research that’s been done…. However with Mary we have seen born 1814 on her tombstone and 1817 on family records so I believe the Daniel and Mary Sullivan may be worth researching further…. Any ideas on how?

I did not find any more baptismal records in Enniskeane for children of Daniel Mahony and Mary Sullivan.

However, in the nearby parish of Bandon, there were four baptismal records of interest. Parents Daniel Mahony and Mary Sullivan. The baptismal records for Bandon have a gap from October 1811 thru December 1813. Was Ellen baptized in the gap period? https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0017  By the way, all of these records are on irishgenealogy.ie

Hi Roger,

our ancestors are from Bandon.  Maps we have handed down through the family show that area highlighted.  

Jerramiah was born in the gap years, Ellen was born 1815 and Mary 1817( her tombstone reads 1814)  

there is information from relatives that there is a Julia b 1800 d 25 Sept 1878 and a John T b Aug 1822 d 16 Mar 1901 however I have found nothing to connect them to Jerramiah, Ellen and Mary
