Hi, can’t seem to find out what happened to my father’s uncle, James. Born 1916, both parents dead by the age of 10, believed he went to fight in W.W. 2. And died in France, but no records to back this up. Born in Clonmel,

I attach a record of the Birth of a James Green - May 4th 1916 - Kilmacomma in the administrative County of Waterford. Is this your uncle.
Subscription site www.rootsireland has a civil record of a David Green - Born in Albert Street, Clonmel November 3rd 1904 and a Margaret on May 20th 1908 - Born Old Bridge - John - Born in Kilmacomma on September 24th 1910.
What age was James when he left home?
Regards,
McCoy

You can search for war dead at https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/
What were James's parents and siblings named? Knowing their names might help us with the search.

Hi, this is him. His brother, David, was with the Irish Army and died of T.B in Dublin. He had an older sister Mary, married to a Ryan, who was a soldier who returned from W.W1 and died a short time later. My grandfather was Joseph who was with the Franciscans, and another brother, John who married. The family started in Liverpool where the parents met, Peter and Bridget, and then returned to Clonmel. Peter is originally from Wexford but we have no more info on him. It seems James disappeared off the face of the earth. I wrote to the Army, they had nothing, and have scoured all websites.
Thanks for your interest.
