Hello all,

I am trying to find out some family information on a Bridget Mulloy, born February 18, 1909 in Mayo.  She immigrated to the US on the Celtic in 1926 and resided in Syracuse, listed her cousin Delia Roche @ 108 Walnut Ave.  Her father is listed as John Mulloy, Cashel, Turlough, Castlebar, County Mayo.  She stated that she planned on staying in the US for 7 years, but I believe she was there well past that.  She later changed her name to Agnes in 1933 and was a maid for the Leonard family as of the 1940 US census.

I believe she may be my paternal grandmother, though I do not have any substaniating evidence.

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and if I have the correct Bridget, she was born on December 20, 1908 in Cashel Upper townland to John Mulloy and Bridget Clarke. I also found the 1911 census for the family and the 1906 marriage record for John and Margaret which also lists the names of their fathers.

    Questions?

  • DEAR MAINE MALLOY:  I too have a Bridget Mulloy/Malloy from the Castlebar area of County Mayo; she was my 2nd great grandmother...and...this is odd.....she married Dominick Roach/Roche in Feb of 1835 in Killedan.  A witness to the marriage was Patrick Mulloy.  There was also a Mary Mulloy who sponsored one of Bridget and Dominick's baptism.

Now I know this is too late for you, but the names seem to be similar to what I have.

I do know that my Bridget and Dominick had two children who emigrated to Dane Co, Wi,  James and Bridget came to the USA in 1862.  James was 22 and Bridget was 20, aboard the City of New York.  Left behind in Ireland were Michael Roach (of Castlebar) and Mary Roach who married Billy Kilgallon, and was found in Killasser/Swinford area of Co Mayo.

The Bridget who emigrated with my great grandfather James died at age 30 after giving birth to three children.  So, that is not your Bridget either.  She was married to Patrick C Higgins of Co Roscommon.  He resided mostly in Madison, WI.

Something tells me we could be connected, however.
