I'm hoping to find information about Edmund David Russell, born to David Russell and Mary O'Dea in Limerick Junction (?) in 1863 (March?).
He came to America, settled in Iowa, married Johanna Wall, became a physician, had many children (12?), practiced medicine in Fort Dodge and Clare, Iowa, for many years, retired to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died in 1953.
Thanks for any leads!

Dear Darlington:
Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.
I have had a look through the Roots Ireland website for a possible church baptism record for Edmond as his date of birth pre-dates Civil Registration which began in 1864.
There is an Edmond Russell baptism record for the parish of Rockhill/Bruree in County Limerick. Here is the information:
Edmund Russell
Date of Baptism: 14 April 1859
Father: David Russell
Mother: Maria Brown
Sponsors: Tim Meehan and Joanna Keys.
However, if you are sure of Limerick Junction, that is actually located in the civil parish of Sologheadbeg which is in County Tipperary. When I searched for a Russell baptism record, there, I was unable to find one.
I would advise you to create an Ancestor Profile for Edmond Russell as you have some good information which would make for a very nice and informative profile that other members will read. You may find that there are other members researching the same family who have further information. The link to create an Ancestor profile is https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy
I will also forward this post to several other volunteers in the Counties Limerick and Tipperary area who may be able to add further information.
Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you for your interest in Ireland Reaching Out.
Kind regards,
Jane

Dear Jane,
Thank you for your kind reply and for the information.
I'm not sure if Edmund David Russell was born in Limerick Junction or in County Limerick. I've seen both in different places. Some sources just say Ireland.
As to his parents: I think their names were David Russell and Mary O'Dea. That's what appears on his Iowa marriage record. There could be various explanations, of course, for the different mothers and for his age. I've seen Cork for his parents' birthplace, and in one source a suggestion that the family moved to Dublin.
His children, writing his obituaries years later, may have forgotten the exact details. I'm just starting on him. But I'm going to find out what I can.
I will create an Ancestor profile, as you suggested.
Thanks again!

Hi
There were Russell's during your time of Interest in Ballyryan Monard which is a mile or so from the Limerick Junction. Let me see if I can find any reference to your names.
