Hi there,
I first wanted to introduce myself. My name is Glenn Scollins, I'm 31 years old, and have lived in Boston all my life. My family and I traveled to Ireland last November and we instantly fell in love with everything about the country. We are planning another trip to return this year, but we were hoping to get some into on our actual descendants and visit the parishes they hailed from.
I've done a bit of digging and found that our irish roots on my father's side go back to Monaghan (and possibly Clones). I was hoping someone may have some more information around the Scollins name. I have attached a family tree of what I have so far. It looks like my great great grandfather Hugh Scollins born in 1865 was born in Ireland. Also my great great grandmother Nora F Keeffe (1847-1942) has lineage that goes back to Patrick O'Keefe born in 1817.
I was interested if anyone had additional information on these families (Especially Scollins and Keeffe/KeefeO'Keefe) or knew if there were still any decendants living in the area. I'm doing this as a surprise christmas gift for my family but any information that could be provided would be a huge help.
Sorry for the novel, but regardless of whether or not you can help, I look forward to starting a dialogue. Visiting Ireland was a life changing experience for me and I look forward to learning more about where I came from and how I got where I am today, thank you!

Hello, my name is Eric Collins. My family roots can be traced back to the Clones, Drumully parishes, where I uncovered several baptism records. Among them, was a William Scollins, baptised in 1871 in Clones parish. I looked up the official birth certificate and found it under William Collins, not Scollins. Both records had parents John and Eliza, which were the names of my great-grandparents. Neither of them could read or write, and often, her last name was entered as Toal, Toole, and O'Toole. If you don't get hung up on spelling, and expand your search to include variants, you may have better luck. Unfortunately, I have hit a wall with a John and Eliza, as they were itinerant also, and moved about the Monaghan and Fermanagh border area. I have been unable to find a marriage record (probably about 1866) or birth records for either in the Monaghan or Fermanagh areas, thus they must have records in other counties. Good luck in your search.
