I'm looking for information on my gr-gr-grandmother, Ellen/El Langley. She came to North America in 1847 with her husband, John Thomas McCarty/McCarthy. Also with 2 children Joanna/Johanna and David. I believe Ellen may have had some brothers whom she followed to Canada. I think these brothers were Thomas (wife Mary Stokes), Simon w/Mary Fahey and John w/Mary Delahunty. All these lived in Canada. Thomas came to Canada 1827, born in 1799/1800 in Tipperary. Ellen and John Thomas in 1847. I believe Simon and John came to Canada about 1846/7.

Miriam,
Thank you for this information. I have some of these marriages and baptisms since i've renewed my Ancestry membership. I have not looked at Griffith's Valuation but will now that you've sent this. Special if this is my gr-gr-grandmother Ellen I'm glad to see a marriage date. I've gotten one before but with a name like John as a husband (so common) I was never sure if I had the correct information.
I will share this with a cousin. He's questioning my suggestion that this is "our" Ellen since the older brother had always said he was a "Tipperary man". We always heard McCarthy's were from Cork. I think they were but John may have met Ellen in Tipperary and married her there. I always wondered why they went to a specific place in Canada but if these were her brothers it makes a lot more sense.
Thank you again for this information. Very surprised how FAST your reply was.

Miriam,
As I mentioned I have 5 items that you also found. Your confirmation of information is leads me to think I may be onto something. I have found a
Fanny Langley m Edm(on)d Beetle 1 Jun 1827 in Ballingarry, Cashel and Emly. Anyway to find if this Fanny is another sister of Ellen? My information is coming from 'All Ireland Catholic Parish regestry 1655-1915.
Thanks so much.
