Long Orchard, Templetouhy, Tipperary and the surname of LAHY, Lahey.
I have links to the area of Long Orchard Templetouhy for my Great, Great, Great Grandparents with the Name Patrick Lahy B:1844 with siblings :- Catherine B:1831, Dennis B:1838, Margaret B:1840, John B:1846. Patrick was recorded as a Delver or Stone Mason and I wondered if anyone was aware where he could have learned his trade?
Their Parents (and my G,G,G,G Grandparents John Lahy B:1812 in Gortnahoe and married Ellen Keating – she may have been born approx. 1812 and married 1830ish. I also believe there are links to the family names of Farrell, Keogh & Cahill who also married lahy’s and about the same time. Also linked to Longorchard.
Finally, Their Parents (and my G, G, G, G, G Grandparents Thomas Lahy B: approx. 1792 in Killinhaulle and married Ellen Ryan B; approx. 1792.
I am aware of the number of John, Patrick & Thomas Lahy’s that had land or dwellings in the areas of Tipperary. To confuse further there are also two separate but unrelated couples named Thomas Lahy with wives called Ellen Ryan, the couple linked to Thurles are not part of my clan, to date. The above are all townlands that are fairly closely linked.
The next level up I have yet to confirm but I believe it could be Michael Lahy who married Alice Hunt possibly born approx 1770.
I hope to visit Ireland and these places this year and I wondered if anyone had any links to me, or these families? Or indeed any information that will help me connect to an actual residence.
Thank you,
Chris Lahy
