I'm looking for information about Catherine Kennedy who married John De Vere Hunt about 1820. John and Catherine left for NSW about 1850 with 8 of their children. Their son, Matthew, remained in Ireland to manage their land holdings. John died on board during the voyage to NSW. Catherine and the children (ages ranging from 28-13) settled in Victoria.
I would like to know Catherine's parents and place of birth.
Many thanks
Kerri

Hi Kerri,
Some time ago I am sure I helped someone with this.
Mathew married and went to New Zealand I cannot remember when he went there.
I think he married a ? Ryan, Nenagh was entered as Nicher or Nincher but I recognised the Priests name.
Once I do a search I delete everything unless they end up being a Kennedy relative of mine.
Catherine Kennedy's father was Hugh Kennedy. (one of mine was a Hugh Nicholas Kennedy who went to new Zealand)
I am not in Ancestry now, sorry.
I don't do a lot of searches now.

Thanks Margot. I've been able to determine Matthew's wife was Mary Ryan, daughter of Thomas Ryan and Alicia Bradshaw from Pallasgreen. Catherine also had a brother, William, who died 1824 on Gorane, Otway, Tipperary. He's buried in Annaghmeadle. I'm interested in the Hugh who went to NZ. Was he related to Matthew? I might try to find him. I'm trying to determine which family of Kennedy we are looking at. I'm aware of families in Garravane and Tourenbrien (not sure about spellings).
Many thanks,

Hi Kerri,
My Kennedy's originated in Kilmore this just south of Nenagh. They left there and settled in Borrisokane. around 1800.
They were blacksmiths. Hugh Nicholas Kennedy went to New Zealand.
Your Catherine Kennedy was from Borrisoleigh.
