Im looking for any information relating to my grandfather Julian Coyne , born 25/11/1917. I know his first name isnt a typical Irish name , i wonder what that may have been originally?
My father David Snow was born to Julian and Ursula Townend on 4/12/38 in Manchester and was then given up for adoption. He was named Michael Townend at birth.
This is what i know:
Julian Coyne Born on 25 Nov 1917 at unknown. Died on 5 Dec 1993 at London, England.

Jon:
There were roughly 40 Coyne civil birth records for 1917. No Julian Coyne records for 1911-1923. There was a Patrick Coyne born November 25 1917 in South Mayo to parents Martin Coyne and Bridget Casey Coyne. See second record at the link.

Jon,
Attached two records for a Julian Coyne - London - I - death - 1993 and 2- Probate 1994.
In relation to adoptions - Children were given false identities to conceal their mothers name.
Do you have the marriage record of David Snow and Ursula Townsend.
What was the name of Julian's father?
Regards,
McCoy

Jon,
Correction - Previous Post should be Marriage between Julian Coyne and Ursula Townsend.
There is a record of a Michael Townsend having been born in Manchester in 1916 - Mother's name - Dillon.
Quarter 4 8D 325.
There is also a report of a dispute between two counties in relation to the cost of maintenance for a Michael Townsend.
He appears to have been a Roman Catholic. Heading "Disowned by two counties".
Do you have a baptism record for Michael Townsend?
Regards,
McCoy

Many thanks for your assistance. Yes it is possible that Patrick Coyne is the same person as Julian Coyne, but there is a further discrepancy. I also cant find a birth record in the Uk of any Coynes born on that date so that is a helpful lead.
Julian Coyne was married in Bombay 1945 to Ann Clark, and his father is named as Alec Coyne on the Marriage certicfiate, mother is named Mrs Coyne..
Michael Townend was born 4 dec 1938 in Manchester. His parents are Julian Coyne and Ursula Townend (later Cragg) (note no S in Townend). Michael Townend was renamed David Snow on adoption, I dont have the adoption papers.
Julian Coyne and Ann Clark had a daughter, named Penelope Coyne, born Baluchistan in 1945 or 46, there is a passenger list somewhere with mother and daughter coming to the Uk in 1948 i think.
After training as a nurse, Penelope Coyne (great name, Penny Coyne) married a Mr Evans in London in 1968, this is where i lost track of her. If i were to find her or her children (my cousins), maybe they would have more information about their maternal grandfather Julian Coyne.with gratitude, Jon.
