John Kenney/ also written as Kenny or Kinney

Born 23 Jun 1820 in Clonfert Parish, Galway. I found the baptism records for him and siblings Michel J. In 1817 and Bridget in 1823. Initially I thought they were from Leitrim, Roscommon, but was barking up the wrong tree. 
 

Parents John 1898? and Ellen Power, 1800?  I was wondering about their marriage or death or anything. I'm not sure of the birthdates.

John 1820 married a Sarah Carney or Corcoran, born 1825 also in Galway. John and Sarah's daughters records gave conflicting names for her birth name. I can't find a record of her under either name or a marriage.
They got married before 1847 (if they did) and went to Connecticut. By 1952, they were in Chicago. 

(These were my 3rd great grandparents. Their daughter Johanna, 1860 was my 2nd great grandmother. She married Daniel Dougherty, 1859 from Donegal in Chicago. Their son John Philip Dougherty married Mary Priscilla Ward (daughter of Patrick from Kilmoylan), my great grandmother.) etc.

    As you indicated, the Kenny/Kenney children were baptized in the RC parish of Leitrim in Co. Galway. I don't see a marriage record on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Possibly, they were married in a different RC parish which does not have records back to 1820 and earlier.

    I looked at the 1843 Tithe listings for Leitrim civil parish and there was a John Kenney, Patrick Kenney and Michael Kennedy all listed in Kilmacrah townland

    The same John, Michael and Patrick were again listed in the 1855 Grffiths Valuation head of household listing for Leitrim civil parish.

    Possibly the John mentioned in both documents is your ancestor.

    I did find a possible lead for the death of John Kenny. There was a John Kenny age 76 who died in the hospital at the Loughrea workhouse. No indication where John lived. He was shown as a widower and a labourer.

    I did not find a good lead on a death record for Ellen.

    I checked for information on your John Kenny and I found a John Kenny was baptised on 23rd June 1820 Leitrim, Galway  and Died 27th May 1870 age 49yrs Chicago. John kenny was Married to Sarah Carney Corcoran Birth Place County Galway, Ireland Died Chicago, Cook County, Connecticut, U.S.A.

    Father and Mother of John:  Father   John Kenny Born about 1798 Ireland       Mother Ellen Power Born 10th March 1799 Townland of Quilla in Tramore, Waterford, Ireland

    There is lots of information on the My Heritage Site and also on the WikiTree Site. I'm a member of both Sites and I use the My Heritage Site for Clues that sometimes pay off.The Wikitree is A free Site and the Person that input the information on the Kenny Family is Called Laurie Brickel and on the My Heritage Site it's Tiffany Rambow.
