John Clear and Bridget Buckley married 12/1/1821in Dioese of Ossory Kilkenny Known children Edmund born around 1824 William born around 1832 and Margaret born around 1833. I have been unable to locate any baptism certificates for children or for John and Bridget. Grateful for any leads or information or connection to anyone that has the Clears in their tree. It appears the children went onto South Africia and William later onto Australia

Leanne:
The marriage took place in the RC parish of Muckalee. Unfortunately, that parish has a gap in baptismal records from September 1806 until June 1840. The children were likely born in the gap period so no records will be available. I also did not see baptismal records for John or Bridget in Muckalee.

Leanne:
The Griffiths Valuation survey was conducted in Co. Kilkenny around 1849-1850. There were nine John Clear records listed as head of household. One of the nine lived in Coolcullen townland in Mothell civil parish. People who lived in Mothell civil parish would have attended Muckalee RC parish. So this would be a lead on a possible home place for your Clears.
This John Clear died March 13 1869 at age 78. Informant was a Patrick Cassidy. The record image is not available yet.
I also found an 1888 death record for a Bridget Clear from Coolcullen who was a widow. Informant was cousin Thomas Clear, See fifth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1888/06175/4765393.pdf
So based on the Griffiths data and the two death records, it is very likely that your Clear family was from Coolcullen.

Hi Roger, did you see a year for the John Clear in Mothell on the Griffiths Valuation ? I couldn't find one. Did you see any other Clears close by , interested in the Thomas Clear (cousin) on Bridget Clears death record.
Thankyou for your time

Leanne:
The Griffiths for Kilkenny was around 1849. There were five Thomas Clear records in the Griffiths for Kilkenny. None in Mothell parish but there was a Thomas Clear in Coolgrange townland in Tiscoffin civil parish which is just to the south of Mothell parish.
