As background all of our messages end up on the main message board. I know you were trying to post on the Co. Kilkenny board but any message posted on a county board or parish board ends up on the main message board.

I assume in your research that you have used a subscription site to try to find marriages for the other four children. I looked for leads and did find a June 26 1815 marriage for a Joanne Purcell to a Charles Shearman at St. John's parish in Kilkenny city. There is also a January 13 1811 marriage for a Michael Purcell to a Catherine Dey at St. Canice's in Kilkenny city. There is also a January 15 1818 marriage at St. John's for a James Purcell to a Catherine Hosey. No luck with Frances Purcell. 

We were in Kilkenny town in October and the town is not that large and you can easily walk from St. Mary's to St. Canice's and then St. John's.

Son John Born @ 1791  I believe emigrated with wife Elizabeth Cahill - married 30 Jul 1780, St. Mary's, Kilkenny.

Elizabeth died in Wisconsin, USA in 1869.    Of their six children I am only missing one son but all the rest were born in Ireland but died in Wisconsin, USA.

I was in Kilkenny about 6 years ago but on a family trip and as I am just recently doing this for a friend, had no idea I would need to go check out the cemeteries and churches.  Great town.  Love Matt the Miller's!  

I will add the marriages and see if any of the siblings of John (children of James and Catherine Scott) also emigrated.

I have had much more success with this family than my own in a short time.  So many records are now more available online than when we started some 30 years ago. Back then we had relatives still living that filled in a lot though.

Thanks to your help I found a short family list of the Shearman family on Ancestry.com

The source is Yates County, New York, U.S., Swann Vital Records Collection, 1723-2009
