Hi,
I am a direct descendant of James & Catherine Martin (Armstrong) who emigrated to Australia in 1841 from Magheraculmoney, Fermanagh. They sailed on the ‘Manlius’ along with 6 sons. Two daughters remained in Ireland. This ship was engulfed with Plague and my GG Grandfather died en voyage. He was buried at sea somewhere near India. The stricken ship ship arrived in Port Melbourne 16 February, 1842 and was declared into quarantine for 6 weeks. The arrival ships log states that there were 5 sons and Catherine, with James having died at sea. There is no mention of the youngest son, Andrew who would have been 2-3 years old. It is presumed he also died at sea. I am seeking any information on the daughters, Elizabeth b. 1822 c and Isabella b. 1825 c. Also Andrew b. 1839c. Thank you regards Shirley Ann Martin

You haven’t said what denomination the family was. If Church of Ireland then the baptism records for Magheraculmoney start in 1767. If RC then they start in 1836.
I searched on rootsireland for marriages for Elizabeth and Isabella but did not find any in Fermanagh or nearby. There was a marriage on 28.11.1875 between Andrew Martin of Little Dromore, in Derryvullan parish whose father was James Martin. Andrew married Margaret Beacom at Coolaght Church of Ireland. James Martin is a common name in Fermanagh though and that may just be coincidence. Don’t know what happened to that family. There was a household of Martins in Dromore Little in 1901 who may be related:

Thank you Elwyn. Really appreciate your help.
might have to get to Ireland one day. Would absolute love that! Yes, Martin is also very common here in Australia. At one time it was the 10th most largest group in the Sydney phone directory, but out numbered these days by other immigrants.
