Hello! I am new to the site and learning my way around. My great-grandfather was James Holland. I have a number of sources that indicate he was born in Tipperary in 1849. In 1861 he is living in Dudley, UK as a "visitor" along with a Julia Holland - "visitor" that I surmise is his sister. The family they are living with is Stephen and Mary Gleeson andt their daughter Ann (also of Tipperary - the Lisbouny, Nenagh parish in Killole diocese). I have the marriage certificate for James Holland and his wife Lavinia Pearson where Ann Gleeson is the witness (a solid connection). I have not been able to find James in any Tipperary records - and I have not been able to identify his parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland for North Tipperary and the only James Holland baptismal record around 1849 is the one below. I did not find an Ann Holland baptismal record with the same parents.

Thanks so much! The sister would be Julia (dob 1844). Ann Gleeson was the friend they lived with when they moved to England. Thanks again!

I checked Roots Ireland for all of Ireland and did not locate any siblings for James.

Thanks! Maybe Julia is a cousin.

Hello, my great GREAT grandfather is named James Holland. I am not sure if we are discussing the same man. Did he happen to have a daughter Margaret Holland? She is my great grandmother, and lived in Orchard Timahoe.
