Seeking any information on this couple and their children.

Their daughter Catherine married James CAIN on December 19, 1841. They had at least 2 sons; they emigrated to Canada prior to 1850 but James and the children did not survive the voyage.

  • Miriam, thank you for your suggestions. I've spent some time skimming the NLI records but must have missed Joanna's baptism. Her sponsors were William LAMBE and Bridget CONRAN. Did you notice, further down the page is a baptism for Simon CONRAN, son of Christopher and Margaret; sponsors Charles MURPHY and Catharine CONRAN. Some new threads for me to pick up. Based on "my" 3x GGM Catharine's second marriage to my 3x GGF Patrick MCDONOUGH in 1850 and her burial record (death April 27, 1885 at age 70) in Canada, her birth was estimated as 1815, or late 1814. [Interestingly, she died 2 days after the death of her daughter (my 2x GGM) Catharine MCDONOUGH's father-in-law, Thomas CURRY. Thomas was buried on the April 27, 1885 with Catharine the younger present at the burial. Perhaps her mother was dying even as she attended the funeral.] I can see how I'll be spending my free time in the near future.

    My granddaughter's name is Miriam...

    Thanks again,

  • I scrolled through several pages of baptisms last night and made similar observations. Unpacking these families and identifyinh connections will keep me busy for sure.

  • I adore such stories and plan to write essays about family and adventures myself.
