I have attached a page from the Griffith's Valuation 1847-1864

It shows Nicholas Hannon living at 3A Tirboy Rd on property rented from Timothy Hanly.   It is listed as a 'Home and Garden' and the land is measured at 10 Perch (Perch = 30.25 sq yrds) and is valued at 12 schillings.

I read somewhere that Tirboy Rd was either changed to, or combined with, Cloontooa Rd around mid 1870s.  This explains why both streets show up in the Hannon history.   It is likely that Nicholas lived in the same place for all his married life if not longer.

A few doors down from Nicholas is a Mary Hannon...possible relative.

I'm not sure what you know about Catherine Mannion.   Her parents were Cornelius and Catherine (McDonough).   I found a brother Patrick (1835-1910) and a sister Sarah (1837-unk)

Hello James, My name  is Marianne Cruz. Jenny forwarded your messages to me. It’s so nice to almost meet you. My grandfather, Daniel Hannon was the youngest sibling of Thomas .My godmother was Louise McCool, mother of Robert. Her father was John Hannon, son of Thomas and Winefred. I did not know about Martin. Thank goodness we don’t have laws now forbidding profanity on Sunday! I had also found the information you found about Cornelius... he was called Corny! How did you find such intimate details as the tattoo? That was amazing! I was wondering if you had any information about Thomas’ brother Patrick (1863-1916). I know he died in Boston, but I don’t know anything about him. There was also a brother named John who was born in 1859, but I have no additional information. As you know, Thomas Nd Winefred and their family, emigrated to Boston. William and Daniel followed. Daniel was very young at that time. Something happened and they left Boston and lived in Brooklyn . I would love to know what caused the split. It is of course how Daniel met my grandmother and I eventually arrived. I hope you are well , and your family also.     You sent me a few messages on Ancestry back in 2018, but I was inactive there for a few years and only recently read them.

   I'm attaching Martin's Prison Record.  They kept pretty detailed desctiptions of the inmates...including Distinguishing Marks (scars, tatoo, ect)

   As you know from researching, recordkeepers had to be able to write, but no one said it had to be legible.  If you stare at the description long enough it becomes clear.

   I don't think the split of the Hannon Family was unfriendly, as the sad story of Adelaide Hannon (Bennett) ended while she was staying with family in Brooklyn.

   As for Patrick F, I can't find anything concrete on him.  Looking at my records I'm not even sure why I have him dying in 1916.      

   Same with John.  I'm not sure if he ever came to the US. 

   If you are still on Ancestry you are welome to anything I have there.

Thank you Jim. I don’t remember contacting you but I sent out quite a few messages at that time as I was beginning my research. What is the name of your tree so I can see it again. At that time I did make contact with Jean Ellen Metiver and learned a few things from her as well. So, what happened to Adelaid Bennet in Brooklyn? Is that where she died? It’s so interesting to learn their stories. There was so much sadness and loss; pain and endurance. What courageous people our ancestors were! 

Adelaide died at 20 years old.   She developed Septicemia as a result of a miscarriage during her 3rd pregnancy.  It happened in Brooklyn so I am assuming that she was staying with relatives at the time.

Every family has its 'black sheep' and Patrick J. Hannon, Adelaide's husband, was certainly one of mine.  

I know I kinda teased the story, but some of the details are a bit sorid.   I don't think I'm comfortable posting them on a public forum.  If you do want the whole story I would email it you.  My email is wayback1918@verizon.net.   If you are uncomfortable doing that I certainly understand.

I will give you one anecdote about Patrick Hannon.

In 1910 there was a serious trolley accident in Boston.   5 people died, about 50 were injured.

Patrick witnessed it from the sidewalk.   When the police came he gave a statement to an officer. 

About an hour later an insurance adjuster showed up.  Patrick claimed he was on the trolley and had been injured.   The adjuster gave him $20.

The officer that Patrick gave his original statement to found out about the claim and had a warrant drawn up

Patrick was indicted for fraud and his bail was set a $200, which I'm sure he couldn't pay

A week later he went to trial and was convicted.   He was sentenced to 40 days in jail and a $25 fine.   He appealed.

Six weeks later, at the appeal, his sentenced was reduced to just a $25 fine, but I'm sure he had already spent more time in jail, awaiting his trials, than his original sentence.

Patrick died 2 years later from Tuberculosis and Delirium Tremens.

Adelaide and Patrick are buried together in an unmarked grave at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden Ma.

Oh my! What can I say... seems like Pat was quite the scoundrel! Poor Adelaide. The one common thread in this family is loss.. there were so many deaths. My grandfather, Daniel, was the youngest brother of Thomas. He never spoke of the brothers who died. In other branches of the family there was a verbal history passed down. In mine, it was very sparse. Both my mother and her brother said that their father came from Tuam, from the parish of “ Saint Eligius”. There is no such place! I wrote to the church in Tuam and they had never heard of it either. I know that he attended the Christian Brothers School in Tuam, as did his brothers I would assume. I visited the site when in Tuam a couple of years ago. There is a photo in my tree. Do you know if there are any family members buried in the cemetery in Tuam? I can’t help but wonder where the lost children were interred. I will definitely email you and continue Patrick’s story.  Be well. Marianne
