How to find name of parents of 4 yr old in Workhouse in 1911

have you looked on the free site irishgenealogy.ie for the birth registration. If you post more details of the 1911 census we might be able to help more.

Yes I did look for birth registration there. That's what I meant by "Also can't find Birth Cert under father's surname." in above post.

Hello again from "down under". 

Father Joe Tynan has told me their is no record of the baptism of a Nugent girl in the Parish of Kilteely in the relevant period.

I tried an email to Tipperary Library, but no reply.

Any other thoughts please?

I presume the above detail you asked for didn't help. I presume an issue is baptisms indexed to 1899, & this baptism is around 8 years later.

I wish to add that a lady from Tipperary Library has now answered my email, & spent quite a bit of time searching the little that survives there from the Workhouse & informing me generally about the Workhouse ran. I could not have asked for better help, but alas, I'm not the wiser about this girl's parents.

Yes any names help.
There is a Patrick Nugent listed in Kilteely in a townland called Ballinlough aged 50.
I'm not saying that he was the father, but it was the only Nugent called Patrick in the area.
Go back to the 1901 census and you will see his record.
He dies and so just his wife Margaret and a niece in the 1911 census.

Husband's name and where she married, would help.

Yes I did notice that Patrick in 1901 Census, with ages all rounded off to the lower decade. From his Death Certificate 8 years later by his niece & neighbour, he was 63 when this girl was born. He left an estate valued at 283 pounds.So would a daughter of such a person be in the Workhouse 2 years later?  I've have been told no, but you might have a different opinion. Would a 62 year old [age when girl's mother became pregnant] have been unfaithful to his wife? His widow didn't die for over a decade later, & from her age at death by his niece neighbour, she was 62 when this girl was born. That Pat only married 3 years before the Census.

I made the subject here finding the parents of this girl, but I should have put finding the mother, as surely she is the key to it all.

BTW, Parish Priest at Pallasgrean has now replied that he can't find a baptism.

Yes. 
Girls / Ladies who had children out of wedlock were always looked down on, but what about the male?
They got away with getting sisters, daughters, other related people in the family way all kept hush hush.

A guy I know from another site was asking if anyone knew a lady, it turned out to be his Mother, he was adopted, I knew her, but never knew about the son.
When I asked cousins about it they all knew but said nothing, so two faced it makes me sick.
So yes to you question.
I know since another site has the DNA matches, that there are a lot of matches to families. Haha caught out at last!

I never thought of it this way. I thought if he had money, his daughter would be at home. But it seems she was born outside marriage, so he could have been hiding her & shunning the mother.
