Hello, it would be very much appreciated if you could find any information on my great-great grandparents Edmund Harney and his wife Mary Heffernan and their children.. I believe Edmund was born in Corderry, Tipperary. He married Mary Heffernan in approximately 1830, so I believe. Their children were Michael, Mary, Daniel, Catherine, and Patrick Harney. Patrick, my great-grandfather immigrated to Australia. Thank you in anticipation, Therese Moloney

  • Hello again Therese!

Corderry is in the civil parish of Clonbeg and the RC parish is Galbally. Fortunately, records for Galbally go back to 1810 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0264  The records are not on Roots Ireland but they are on Find My Past.ie (another subscription site) and likely also Ancestry. I located four baptismal records but did not find Daniel or Patrick yet and I located a John which you did not have on your list. Did not locate the marriage record but if Mary was from a different parish the marriage would have occurred there and maybe the records for that parish do not go back to 1830.

Let me know if you have questions.

  • Therese:

I forgot to mention that there were many Harney baptismal records in the 1820-1840 period. Many for a William Harney and also a Michael Harney. Possibly brother to Edmund. I have reposted the link to the parish register. The link did not work for me when I tried to use it. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0264

  • Hi Therese,

Edmund and Mary were married in 1830. They had six children including John.  John known as Sean stayed on the family farm in Ireland and his family are still there now. Daniel, Catherine and Patrick migrated to Australia. Daniel is my GG grandfather.  It would be good to compare notes.
