I am searching for any information relating to Hannah(or Ann as she's sometimes known)
She was born circa 1820 and has connections to Dunmore and probably Milltown. She married Michael Morgan (or Maghan, Maughan). They had 3 children in Galway:
Margaret born around 1840
Sabina b circa 1844
Patrick b 1847
They left for Leeds in England around 1849, having 2 more children, Mary and John, born 1853 and 1856.
Hannah was alive in 1891 but not on the 1901 census, with no definite date of death being found.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading

The names Johanna, Hannah, Anna, Ann, Hanora, Honora, Honor, and Nora are variations of the same name in Ireland. So Honor in the above records is your ancestor.

In the 1871 UK census, "Ann" Morgan was a widow. Perhaps she remarried and that is why you can't find her under the name Morgan?

Hi Patricia,
Thanks so much for your prompt reply and the info you have given me, it's amazing. I checked the details on the English 1921 census and Margaret had her birthday as the end of August 1841, so you could well be right. Just one thing though.. Why is the surname Mahon? I appreciate it mutated but I haven't come across that one.
Went to Knock last year and didn't think I would have had a direct ancestor baptised in the old church there!
Re your point about Ann remarrying, I guess I just assumed that on the 1891 census she was still Morgan, or a variant of, and living with her daughter Sabina I thought at about 70 years old she would remain a widow. I will check for death certs for Mahon now though.
Thank you again, you do a fantastic job. I will try to trace baptism records for the other children now.

Mahon, Mohan, Maghan are interchangeable. I think Maghan had a silent gh and was pronounced like Mahon.

Hi Dawn,
Your ancestors lived in Knock townland in Galway, not in Knock in Mayo, which is where you visited.

Hi again Patricia,
What can I say? After about 15 years with very little to go on, you have turned it around! So, so grateful to you. I have joined roots Ireland.ie so I can start on my Haney branch!
I, hopefully, only have one more question... When the address is given as Knock, are they referring to Knockatee East or West? Am I missing something? I can see Corohan but struggling with the other. When I come over again I would like to get as exact a match as possible.
Thank you again, you're a star,
Kindest regards,
Dawn
