I have found the farm my family worked in Milltown Co. Tipperary near Cullen Rd .William Griffin farmed it from the early 1800's then his son John Griffin up to 1855 & his son Bartholomew Griffin who passed it to his wife Hanora [Ryan]& children in 1885.I can't make out if the houses that are on the property are dating back to when they lived there. How can I findout infomation on the farm?It was listed as 8a & 8b on the Griffiths valuation.I have included a map of the farm. Thanks for any info that gan be provided.

Hi Chip.
They were there in the Tithes www.titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie.
They were also there in the 1901 census www.census.nationalarchives.ie.
Best of luck, let me know how you get on.

Thanks Christina,
I have found records of the Griffin Men who ran the farm going back to the early 1800's.I only show two of their wives.Bartholomew was maried to a Honora Ryan in 1881.I did see a Hannah Griffin as bartholomew's mother [ My grandmother -her grand daughter was also named Hannah -Bartholomew's father was John Griffin died in 1855] & I would love to findout about her maiden name .I have found little for William Griffin who shows up at the Milltown farm in the 1820's.
Would it be advisable to write to people in the Town of Cullen to findout about my ancestors? There are 2 pubs in town that are probably the meeting place of most locals that I thought of writing. Is there a mayor or town council for Cullen? Milltown is just farms with little industry.I would think Cullen would be the key for most of the local people from the surounding countryside.
Thanks to anyone who can help with my journey,
Chip Renner

Hi again Chip.
Cullen is a small, very scenic village very near the Limerick border. It has a church, pubs, and a Graveyard.
I do know the Headstone ins, are kept in one of the pubs, Will check are they on www.historicgraves,ie.
Catholic Church records do not start until 1840 they are free to access at www.registersnli.ie.
I will try and find out is there a historian, in the area who could help you.

That would be great Christina.I am hoping the family may have been known in Cullen.I had heard that the 3 brother's had all went to fight in WW1 & were never heard of again. My Grandmother was not very close to her relatives especially her siblings.I have to look into the siblings & see if they had family. Thanks for your help!
