Through DNA results, we have found out our Griffin ancestors hailed from Galway, North Connacht and Roscommon.
Our first ancestor that immigrated to the USA was John Michael Griffin,. He settled in Brooklyn NY and raised his family there.
His parents were Michael Griffin and Elizabeth Conway. I cannot locate the Baptism or birth record for him, my 3rd great-grandfather. I would desparately like to know exactly where he was born as I am going to finally travel to Ireland from the USA when this Covid pandemic allows us to leave the country.

Hi
Welcome to IrelandXO.
Will you provide a rough time line of events. It will help narrow down the search.
Many thanks

Hello,
John Michael Griffin was born on May 22, 1848 to Michael Griffin and Elizabeth Conway Griffin. I also found a marriage record for Michael Griffin and Elizabeth Conway. They were married in December 1840 in a Roman Catholic church in Ballaghadereen. As my DNA links back to Roscommon, Galway and North Connacht, I cannot be sure that this is their marriage record, but it seems likely as the marriage took place in what is now Roscommon.
John Michael Griffin immigrated to New York before 1870, as he had his first child in Brooklyn that year. He remained in Brooklyn until his death there in 1924.
If you could confirm where he was born, I will be eternally grateful.
Cheers,

Susanne:
The baptismal records for Castlemore/Kilcolman (Ballaghaderreen) RC parish start in November 1851 so if John was baptized in that parish, no record would be available. I also searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and there were no John Griffin baptismal records around 1848 with parents Michael Griffin and Elizabeth Conway.
