My greatgrandfather John Comer lived in Carrowmore, Ballinacourty. In 1877 John and his wife Norah (Honor) (Coyne) sailed for New Zealand. At the time there were 4 children, Patrick, John, Delia Thomas, On the voyage a son was born (Michael). The family settled in Milton, South Otago. My grandfather James Patrick was born in 1880. The family were very close and all stayed and worked in the Milton area until the early 1900's. My great grandmother died in 1898. Patrick, John, Thomas and Michael left NZ in the early 1900's and settled in Australia. In 1905 My great grandfather returned to Ireland where he retired. He died on 19th March 1910 at Oranbeg near Oranmore, County Galway.
I have visited Ireland several times, visited Carrowmore and stayed in the home my great grandfather lived in, now owned by the Costello's (distant relative). My great grandfather was a Catholic. I have no idea where his funeral took place or where he is buried. The funeral could have been at Maree perhaps. There is a small grave yard in Ballinacourty, however not a great number of headstones. There must be a Parish record somewhere. I have a copy of the death certificated, however parish details are not recorded. A parish record would be gratefully appreciated and where he might be buried.
