Hello,
I'm in need of some information on my grandmother. Her name was Mary Agnes Gleeson. All I know is what I was able to find on my grandfather's naturalization papers. It says that her birthday was November 19th, 1871 and that she came from Galway. I think she immigrated about 1890, I"m also thinking that her father's name might have been Edward but I'm not sure. This side of my grandparents has truly been a mystery to me. I would appreciate any help in this matter.
Thank you for all the work that you do.

Trish:
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and the only record in Co. Galway for a Mary Gleeson with father Edward/Edmond/Edmond was an 1867 record. The parents were Edmond Gleeson and Mary Golden and they lived in Polleighter townland in Clonbern civil parish in the northeast part of Co.Galway
sixth record 1867 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…
Obviously if the fathers name was not Edmond then we have the wrong family.
Did she have siblings? I checked Polleighter in the 1901 census and did not find a Gleeson family.
Let me know.

Hi Trish,
There was a Constable in County Galway named Edward Gleeson 1869 - 1880. His 1st marriage was to Rose Keefe in Mohill, Co. Leitrm. A daughter - Anne - baptised in Oughterard on August 23rd 1869, also Edward in July 1871.
In 1876 he married Anne Conneely in Kilronan, Aran Island. He is recorded in Williamstown, Co. Galway in February 1880 where a daughter - Frances Mary was baptised.
This is just a possibility. The name "Gleeson" is also spelled "Gleason".
