I am so sorry, but I made a mistake in my post before. I have since straightened it out! Mary Clarke (1828-1918) was from Ireland, as was her husband John Flaherty (1833-1905). They were married in Cheshire, England, Dec 1855.
I decided to look in England and found a Mary Clarke and John Flarty there in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The certificate said his father was Michael and her father was Patrick, deceased. It was not till the 1911 Census that Mary Flaherty had her place of birth as Dunmore, Ireland.
I just can't find any record of her being born in Tuam, Dunmore with a father named Patrick. I saw there is a Dunmore in Waterford. Should I be looking there?
I don't know of anyway of finding John Flaherty. I see there are a billion at least in Galway!
I would appreciate any help y'all would give me, as well as any suggestions.

Sorry for the five month delay in responding to your message. We are doing a cleanup operation and I was asked to try to respond to your query.
As you found out there are two Dunmore towns in Ireland, one in Galway and the other in Waterford. In addition, there are about 18 different townlands with Dunmore in the name. Finally, there is a Dunmore civil parish in Co. Galway and a small Dunmore civil parish in Co. Kilkenny.
Not trying to complicate your research but I wanted to make you aware of the various Dunmores.
I did search on the subscription site Roots Ireland for Mary Clarke baptismal records with father Patrick. Keep in mind that a good number of RC parishes maybe 50% or more do not have records back to 1828. Dunmore RC parish in Co. Galway ahs records starting in 1833. In any event, I did not see a good lead. Not having a mother's maiden name is a constraint.
Have you considered DNA testing?

Thank you so much for looking into Mary Clarke for me. I just am stumped as no one on any board or tree has any knowledge of her which seems so bizarre to me. I can't even find anything on Patrick Clarke!
Yes I have had DNA testing, which showed somewhere west of Galway as likely for John Flaherty. I must admit I don't really understand it.
I will keep searching in all the Dunmore towns hoping to get lucky.

Flaherty is a very common surname in Connemara. Church records start late which complicates trying to search for relatives pre-1864.
