Finding relatives in Castleisland County Kerry

Johanna had several other siblings, as shown in the 1911 Irish census:

In this census there is  a Jeremiah, age 4, so the first Jeremiah must have died, as you suggested.

Note in the 1911 census, the place of birth in Kerry is given for Jeremiah and for Honoria Cullinane--it was not Castleisland.

Johanna's father Jeremiah Cullinane's parents were Jeremiah Culinane and Johanna Murphy. This couple, who married in 1859 had about nine children, some of whom emigrated to New York. They lived in Dromultan, a townland near the village of Scartaglin. That Jeremiah's parents were Charles Cullinane and Bridget Horgan. He had at least one sibling, Dominic who was born in 1835. Johanna Murphy's parents were John Murphy and Helen Connor of Castleisland.

Johanna's mother Hanora O'Connor's parents were Denis O'Connor and Catherine O'Connor from Knockeen, a townland just outside Castleisland.

When Johanna was growing up the family lived in Convent Lane, Tonbwee in the town of Castleisland.

By the way, when in September are you visiting Castleisland?

Dear Joan:  Is it possible that my grandmother JoHannah and Jeremiah were twins?  It appears they were both born in 1897 and then Jeremiah died 10 days later.I thought she was born in 1896 but based on the birth record appears to be 1897.  My father was a fraternal twin.  Debra

Jeremiah Cullinane and Johanna Murphy's children were Bridget b.1860, Catherine b.1861, Helen b.1866, John b.1868, Mary b.1870,   Jeremiah b.1872,  Denis b.1874, Hannah b.1876 and Thomas b.1880. There is also a possibility that a Charles Cullinane from Dromultan, who's father was Jeremiah, and who married an Ellen O'Sullivan in 1894 is also one of their children.

Regarding your grandmother Johanna and Jeremiah being twins, the records are confusing. The Church records give Johanna's DOB as 27/11/1896 and Jeremiah's as 21/11/1897. The Civil records give Johanna's DOB as 27/11/1897. Jeremiah's DOB is the same on both records. I think the year entered on the Civil records is incorrect and she was born in 1896. If they were twins they would have been on the same page of the Civil Records.

Do you have any information about the siblings of my great, great grandfather Jeremiah Cullinane who was married to Joanna Murphy.  You stated that he had a brother named Dominic born in 1835.  Any other siblings? Any additional information about the siblings of my great, great, great grandfather Charles Cullinane married to Bridget Horgan or great, great, great grandfather John Murphy married to Helen O'Connor. Appreciate all your help.
