I'm searching for the descendants of Edward (Ned) Farrell & Margaret (Maggie) Doherty married 1916 in Co. Tyrone. Their first child, Ellen Bernadette, was born in Scotland in 1917. Another daughter, Mary Josephine, was born in 1920 in Letterkenny. There were also two sons, Joseph and Frank, but I haven't been able to find them. Ned was with the RIC and was posted in various places around Ireland so it's hard to know where to look. Ellen moved to England, married and died there. Mary immigrated to USA married and died there. At some point, Ned moved permanently to Scotland but Maggie and the children remained in Donegal. I would love to learn something about the families of Joseph and Frank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Yes, thank you very much for your research. I already have those and also the marriages of Ellen to Cleary and Wilcox. Plus deaths of Ellen & Mary J. And I have the deaths of both Ned and Maggie. What I can't find are Joseph and Frank. Those are the names of the two grandfathers so that is most likely the names they used though they could be second names on birth registries. I can't find them in any Irish listings but most only go to 1923. Possibly, they were born after that. RIC disbanded in 1922 but I've assumed they were born before that because that may have been when Ned went to Scotland permanently. Ned's discharge papers say he was posted in Fermanagh and Donegal as well as Limerick. On the other hand, the boys could have been born in Scotland and I don't have access to any good Scottish records. It seems many northern Irish went back and forth to Scotland on a regular basis.Thanks again for your help.    Florence
