Did John have a connection to Ireland? If so, do you know where he was from? Who his parents or siblings were? When/where he married? His wife's maiden name?

The McClelland family tree on Ancestry has Sir John born in Ireland and dying in Hampshire. It shows his wife as Sophia Rosina (not Mary Jane) and they had 1 child John Gordon McClelland in Hampshire in 1865. (His birth certificate should clarify the mother’s identity. What looks like his birth was registered in Havant, 1865 D quarter Volume 2b, page 350. Mother’s maiden name Gordon.).
Sir John’s father is given as Abraham McClelland 1770-1855 died Co Down. 4 Abraham McClellands in Co Down mentioned on the Ros Davies site:
http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~rosdavies/genealogy/SURNAMES/Mc/McClelland.htm
If John senior was a sir, then that indicates he was either a knight or a baronet. In either event he should be listed in Burke’s Peerage or Debrett. That should give details of his lineage and when he was ennobled.
Possible other births Mathew 1866 in Longtown and Samuel 1871 Bradford.
Belfast Mercury 16th May 1855 reports the death of an Abraham M’Clelland on 8th May, “at an advanced age”. Address given as Menteith Cottage, Co Down.
Clare Journal & Ennis Advertiser 24th Dec 1840 reported the death of Mrs Abraham M’Clelland at Menteith Cottage, near Banbridge. Mid Ulster Mail of 17 October 1891 reported the death Martha M’Clelland of Mentieth Cottage, only surviving daughter of the late Abraham M’Clelland. (Menteith is in Tullintanvally townland). Martha's will is on-line on the PRONI website and names various relatives in Ireland.
No way of knowing if this is the right family though.
