I am hoping to connect with others connected to Margaret (1783 - 1891) and William Elliott (d 1838) of Trasna Island, Lough Erne. Margaret was known as "Queen of Trasna" and "Orange Peggy" due to her strong Orange affiliations. They had 9 sons, 2 of whom drowned in Lough Erne, as did William himself. I have Andrew, John and Thomas as sons, but no furtehr confirmed children. I dont know what Margaret's maiden name was. All help will be gratefully received!!

Hello Suewinn,
Orange Peggy is my great-great-great grandmother, through her son William Elliot. We believe her maiden name was Davis, but not sure where this has come from. Am currently resesarching this side of the family tree so will keep you updated :)

Hi Siobhan, thanks for your reply, it's always good to hear from someone doing the same detective work. I am trying to work out what depth of link I have other than a maternal side 2 x Grt Grandfather, William Elliott, born 1833 in Fermanagh. He married Ellen Armstrong in Trory in Feb 1855, before moving over to St Helens, Lancashire in the mid-1860's. I have reason to believe that his father was also a William. I have heard stories that my ancestors in that line were staunch Orangemen and that my Great Uncle used to bang the drum in the Orange marches. Any information you may have to share would be most welcome. Kind Regards Sue Winn

Hello Suewinn,
I am also related to Orange Peggy on the paternal side, Elliott, many many great greatmother. Like Siobhan I am researching my family history and would love to gather more info on Margaret Elliott nee Davis. I have a photo, newspaper articles and the funeral notice from the day, and a unknown authored poem about Orange Peggy. I am currently on MyHeritage.com with the family tree site of Elliott-Kingsbury. My guess is I am a second cousin to Siobhan. I was born in New Zealand, father Harold Elliott and mother Winifred Elliott nee Kingsbury who emmigrated to New Zealand in the 1950's.
I am more than happy to share any information I have or can find.
Cheers
Carol :-)

Hi Carol,
I think your father Harold is my grandmother Pearl's brother! I'm on findmypast with Harold on there. Small world :)

Hi Siobhan,
Yes that is correct. It is a small world. I happened to see a photo the other day of what looks like a gathering at Gloria and Trevors, with Kate and Luke. I believe you are in that photo? Christine was not quite sure, but we made a guess.
I never met you when I was home in 1997. You would have just been a little one and would never have remembered me anyway.
I will go on to findmypast and locate your tree. We may be able to help each other, which will be fantastic.
This is my email crismis@me.com
Cheers
