Hello,

I am looking for anyone with ancestry information on the Egan's from Ballinahown.  The earliest information that I have in on my great-great-great grandfather Hugh Egan who was born in 1796.  I have infomation on his children as follows:

You can see a later generation of Egans in Ballinahown baptizing children in the 1870s ... with the name Hugh prevalent.

  • Thanks Patricai-My great-great-great grandfather Hugh Egan was living in NYC then.  The information on the family comes from his son Michael John Eagan was initially obtained from a family bible with a copyright of 1876, which he started and was later passed down to Hugh Eagan Sr (the third Hugh Eagan in the family).  The bible states that Michael John was brought to the United States in 1848 as a small child and was born in West Meath, Kings County.  In addition, to the 3 children that I mentioned previously Hugh Egan had a son William and a daughter Dorothy for a total of 5 children.
